yes, my never-ending plan.
i realized i get overwhelmed with too many things in my 'action plan' list so today, i decided to do it one at a time. starting today, i will just be working on my rice intake. the goal is so simple (but for a big rice eater like me, it's a very challenging one). i should strictly go on a no-rice breakfast. this shouldn't be a problem because i am used to just eating cereals or oatmeal or fruits. the challenge is at dinnertime when i tend to eat lots of rice. so, related to the rice-intake goal, i will also cut down my rice for dinner.
this is no grand plan for someone who needs to lose 50 pounds but allow me to see some result from this simple plan. :)

ReplyDeletei hope its okay but i would like to share my experience with you since also love rice very much. try brown rice, the trick to make it as delicious is the proportion of the grains and the water. make sure you use 2 parts water for 1 part rice. the result is soft, fluffy, and if the brown rice is of good quality, you will also get a hint of nuttiness.
ReplyDeletesince the rest of my family still eat white rice, i ask my helper to cook a separate batch for me, 2 cups rice and 4 cups water. let the rice soak in water for an hour before cooking it [u can use rice cooker but i use the stove top] i don't prepare big batches because it might get 'pan-us' if stored too long in the ref. yes, this means extra effort and extra work, but it is worth it. we end up losing weight and healthier.
then, everytime i sit down to eat, my helper puts exactly 1 cup of rice for me [i use the small ceramic cup with ceramic cover we often see in chinese restaurants] this ensures i don't overeat. now i'm down to 3/4 cup per meal. i asked the helper to lower my portion because after a while i noticed that i felt i had to finish the rice even if i did not want to because it was already given to me. when i am really hungry then i ask her fill up the cup.
i also tried to do the no-rice diet [many times!], but as with all diets, it is unrealistic for me and i tend to binge eat during times when i crave them. with the brown rice, i no longer look for white rice. and when we eat out, it’s no big deal because i no longer eat white rice on a regular basis, so its sort of a treat.
i hope this helps twin-sisterette, i have a feeling you and i are the same even in the food department, he he.
